Art archives are a key to telling the story of contemporary art. To this end, the CKV is developing a valuation framework, a tool for providing art archives with an objective assessment framework that makes it possible to address questions and projects concerning, for example, sustainable archival care, access and research in a sufficiently substantiated fashion. CKV personally tests this valuation framework against a handful of cases to further adapt and refine it where possible.
Current valuation models from the Flemish and international heritage and museum sector are drawn on for the framework; an overview of these can be found on the FARO website, the Flemish support centre for cultural heritage.
