Services & advice

The CKV supports various actors in the field of contemporary visual arts in taking care for their archives. Are you an artist, curator, gallery owner, art critic, or do you work for a visual arts organization? Would you like to take care of your archive(s)? Then we would be happy to help you get started.

How can you organize your archive, whether digital or on paper? What does a good storage facility look like? Who can you turn to if you are considering donating your archive to an institution? What are the appropriate steps you can take to manage a legacy? What software is available to catalog an oeuvre? How can you make an estate visible to a wider audience? Where can you find resources to start a (heritage) project?

You may find answers to some practical questions on our website, under Actions and FAQ. We also offer  handy guides or tools on a specific themes, packed with information, practical tips and tricks, and inspiring examples from the field. For example, you can consult a guide on Legacies and a guide on ‘First Aid for Archive Care’.

If you have any questions, please contact us. We will be happy to discuss possible answers with you. Also, keep an eye out for our workshops ‘Introduction to Archival Care’ and ‘Archives in Artistic Practice’. We also offer support by facilitating archival appraisal processes, for example. We do so in collaboration with partners.

We also share knowledge and expertise by organizing webinars, study days, and learning networks, publishing articles, and giving various presentations.
