There are various ways of managing an artistic legacy. People in this situation may decide to keep it in their own possession, to donate or sell it to a collection-managing institution and/or to sell it on the private market (the art market). Another possible choice is to disclaim the artistic legacy. Not every legacy is suitable material for developing an estate.
The CKV can offer advice and support in exploring the different possibilities for establishing an estate, now or in the future, based on documentation, adequate knowledge and information.
TIP: It is worth keeping a record of which works of art have been donated or sold to collection-managing institutions etc. This gives you an overview of where the works of art are stored, which may well be useful for future exhibitions, academic research or creating a catalogue raisonné (catalogue of works).
