Valuing the legacy is a participative process of studying, understanding and establishing the different values in a rational and structured manner. This process makes it possible to investigate the importance and quality of the entire legacy and of its various components, and to find out whether there is a support base for the establishment of an estate.

Roland Van den Berghe’s artistic legacy
The CKV and the artist’s daughter, Dorothée van den Berghe, used an archive auditing process to survey the artistic legacy of her father, Roland Van den Berghe. The aim of such processes is to gain knowledge of the contents, condition, scope and value of the legacy. Surveying it in this way reveals the value of the archive as art history. Roland Van den Berghe played an important role in the conceptual and social arts movement, and his work deserves ongoing recognition and analysis.
